Iedereen kan bij de naam Einstein wel de formule E=mc2 ophoesten. Maar hoe zat het ook alweer precies met energie en massa? Dat en méer kun je direct vragen aan de wereldberoemde wetenschapper zélf!
Maar er is veel méér: wist je dat in Zuid Limburg een Einstein Academy gaat starten? Omdat er een supergrote kans is dat er een toonaangevend project naar Zuid-Limburg / Euregio Maas-Rijn komt: De Einstein Telescope. Deze gigantische ondergrondse Einstein Telescope wordt – vergelijkbaar met CERN in Zwitserland – Europa’s meest geavanceerde observatorium voor zwaartekrachtsgolven. Daarmee kunnen onderzoekers straks zwarte gaten horen botsen en kennis opdoen over het vroege heelal.
De Einstein Academy is een initiatief van Zuyd Hogeschool en de Limburgse mbo-instellingen VISTA college en Gilde Opleidingen. Zij gaan op de Einstein Academy een mix aanbieden van nieuwe opleidingen en reeds bestaande opleidingen, die worden versterkt. Hierbij focussen zij zich op kennis, vaardigheden en technologieën, die nodig is voor bouw (die zeker 10 tot 15 jaar gaat duren) en onderhoud van diezelfde Einstein Telescope. Denk aan technische opleidingen als mechatronica, computer science, bouwkunde of technische bedrijfskunde, maar ook bijvoorbeeld facility management en hospitality.

But there is much more: did you know that an Einstein Academy will start in the south of Limburg? Because there is a very big chance that a billion dollar project will come to South Limburg / Meuse-Rhine Euregion: The Einstein Telescope. This gigantic underground Einstein Telescope will be – comparable to CERN in Switzerland – Europe’s most advanced observatory for gravitational waves. With it, researchers will soon be able to hear black holes collide and gain knowledge about the early universe.
The Einstein Academy is an initiative of Zuyd University of Applied Sciences and the Limburg mbo institutions VISTA college and Gilde Opleidingen. They will offer at the Einstein Academy a mix of new courses and already existing courses, which will be strengthened. They will focus on knowledge, skills and technologies needed for construction (which will take at least 10 to 15 years) and maintenance of the same Einstein Telescope. Think of technical courses such as mechatronics, computer science, construction engineering or technical business administration, but also, for example, facility management and hospitality.
