In de Citizen Science game UNMASK help je wetenschappers om de strijd aan te gaan tegen lymfeklierkanker. In de game help je om informatie te sorteren, waardoor je de wetenschappers helpt om verschillende proeven uit te voeren!
Per jaar krijgen 4000 mensen de diagnose lymfeklierkanker. Hiervan overlijden 1000 mensen. Dat komt doordat er nog geen goed medicijn is gevonden. Voor het medicijn zijn ze op zoek naar overeenkomsten in ons DNA. In de game help je om die overeenkomsten te vinden.
Dit klinkt heel ingewikkeld, maar dat valt heel erg mee: het resultaat is een candy crush-achtige game waarin je verschillende vormpjes moet matchen. Dit zorgt voor data, die wordt doorgestuurd naar de wetenschappers. Zij kunnen dit gebruiken om nieuwe experimenten uit te voeren. Hoe meer mensen meespelen, hoe sneller de data gesorteerd is en hoe sneller we bij de oplossing komen en lymfeklierkanker kunnen verslaan.
